Kettles are possibly one of the most important pieces of kitchen appliances in your house. We all rely so heavily on our kitchen kettle to facilitate catch-ups, pick-me-ups, and winter warm-ups with a lovely cup of tea or coffee. Unless you favour a coffee machine, in which case we’ve got a bountiful range of those too. There’s nothing more quintessentially British than putting the kettle on, which is why we offer an array of different styles and brands. From black kettles, white kettles and leading branded kettles such as Russell Hobbs kettles and the stunning retro style Smeg kettles, we have the right product for you.
We have classic options such as pyramid kettles and larger-capacity models like jug kettles. We also have glass kettles so you can watch the water within bubble and boil with colour-changing lights for a quick kitchen disco. Or perhaps a quiet boil kettle or fast boil is more suited to your home, perfect for any light sleepers or when you’re after a speedy hot drink. Our cordless kettles are another great option for your kitchen counter space, removing the need for any unwanted unsightly wires. If you like to perfect the temperature of your brew so it stays hot for longer or it’s cooler to drink right away, our variable temperature kettles will make it much easier!

Kettles FAQs

How to remove limescale from a kettle

If you live in a hard water area, you may find yourself discovering limescale in your kettle over time. It’s usually harmless but the limescale can affect the energy efficiency of your kettle. Limescale can be easily removed with a few cupboard staples. To remove limescale from a kettle, measure out equal parts white vinegar and clean tap water. Fill your kettle water to around three-quarters full with your newly made solution. Boil your kettle as normal and leave it to cool before you rinse your kettle under your kitchen tap.
If you find the water doesn’t run clean the first time, repeat boiling the white vinegar solution in your kettle. For any stubborn limescale clinging on to awkward corners, a quick use of your kitchen scrubbing brush will banish them away. When you’re happy with the results, fill your kettle with clean water, boil it, and then empty it. Ready for you to use again!

How does a cordless kettle work?

Whilst a cordless kettle still needs to be plugged into a power outlet, they’re cleverly designed to hold the heating coil inside the base whilst the kettle itself is removable. When the kettle is fixed in its base, the circuit is completed and the kettle’s coil will begin heating the water when turned on. Making leeway for a tea-riffic tea or brew-tiful coffee.

How does a kettle work?

Kettles have a metal coil in the water reservoir or the base which, when turned on, begins to heat up to boil the water. Through the power of heat conduction (science!), the water is heated up to its boiling point of 100 degrees, after which the kettle switches itself off and back to standby. The pouring lip lets out the steam that is evaporated water, and many kettles are designed to audibly ‘click’ with their switch flicking back up to show you they’re done. Unless, of course, you opt for a quiet boil model.
