FAQs

How to decorate a Christmas tree

Decorating a Christmas needs four fundamentals of Christmas tree decorations: baubles, tinsel, lights, and a star or angel on top. First, you’ll want to start with your lights, as winding them round all of your ornaments might be a bit laborious! Then, drape your tinsel. Once you’ve done all this, you’ll know all of the perfect places to hang your baubles and ornaments, and you can adjust the wrap-around decorations as you see fit.

When to take a Christmas tree down

This question has no doubt sparked many debates in your family! Does your Christmas tree go up on the first day of December, or are you a die-hard believer in the 12 days of Christmas? If the latter is the case, then you might want to take your Christmas tree down within the first week of January. However, some households prefer to take it down before New Year’s Eve, but we think it just adds to the festivity and sparkles. It’s completely up to you!

Where did the Christmas tree originate?

The modern Christmas tree as we all know it - a decorated fir tree brought inside to celebrate Christmas - originated in Christian Germany in the 16th century. However, it first came to popularity in Great Britain in 1846, when Queen Victoria and her German husband Prince Albert were illustrated standing around a decorated Christmas tree. We have her to thank for its popularity now, as it immediately become ‘the thing to do at Christmas’ and has been since Victorian times!
