Once upon a time, every home had a deep fat fryer in the home, usually in the form of a pan filled with oil to make those perfect (well, sometimes) home-cooked chips. But as tastes changed, the fryer fell out of fashion – although our love of fried food went from strength to strength, thanks to takeaways and fast food restaurants serving up their tasty, crispy treats. Well now the fryer is back in the kitchen with a vengeance, all thanks to a new breed of fryers that take the hassle – and in some cases the oil – out of making amazing crispy chips that you can rustle up every mealtime or when guests come around. Many of our fryers are deep units, scaled perfectly for domestic life with a basket to drain off the oil. The latest innovation, however, is the hot air fryer, which uses a tiny amount of oil to get similar results – and they’re believed to be much healthier. We have fryers from Daewoo, Tefal, Weight Watchers, Salter, Swan, Breville, Russell Hobbs and more, so you can stop going to the takeaway and buy yourself a few spuds for fries that are as cheap as chips.
