Featuring FireAngel’s ground-breaking Thermoptek technology, this smoke alarm responds quickly to all types of fire, whether it’s slow smouldering fires or fast flames. It features a large central button for easy silencing and regular testing, giving you peace of mind at just the touch of a button.
It’s easy to install with all fittings included and comes with a 10-year sealed battery so there’s no need to replace it. Plus the Sleep Easy capability allows you to silence the low battery warning for 8 hours, up to 10 times, during which the alarm will still sound if a fire occurs.
For optimum safety, you should fit smoke alarms in bedrooms, living rooms and hallways.

Simple to install
It was something that needed doing and something so easy to put off, but the piece of mind this gives with a promised battery life of 10 years we can sleep safely without worrying if the battery has died, the test button is simple to use. So easy to install anyone can do it, I bought 2 and both were fitted within 15 minutes from the delivery, product is stylish and well worth the investment

Just the job
I bought this FireAngel Thermoptek Smoke Alarm from our local Robert Dyas shop today, to replace an ancient smoke alarm that had packed up. No more chirping when it needs a new battery for ten years...great! It also looks very stylish and the centre ring flashes red occasionally to confirm that it is active. The large central test button activates a loud pulsing high pitched scream that could probably wake the dead!...Perfect.

Reasonable Smoke Alarm
I bought this to replace my previous smoke alarm which was a FireAngel ST620 - a predecessor of this model. The old smoke alarm was also advertised as having a battery that would last 10 years but ran out before then (~7years) so my expectation is that this also should last a good long time (but probably not the full 10 years). I like the fact that this uses the same mount as the previous model so that you can just remove the old one and very easily attach the new one (you do get a new mounting plate + screws if you do want to put this up without having an existing one). Without actually setting fire to something it is difficult to judge how effective a smoke alarm this is, but the test button works fine, the noise it makes is loud and piercing so the signs are that the alert works and if it goes off anyone close by will know about it. The Test button is easy to press as I found when gripping the unit too hard while putting it up. The main criticisms that I have are that although ~10 years is a good lifespan it seems wasteful not top be able to get a new battery for it at the end of that time - even if that meant sending it off to the manufacturer to be professionally refurbished. I appreciate that for a safety related device that might be a big No, but at least they could offer a recycling service. There is no obvious information provided on how best to recycle these alarms. The device is labelled as WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and there are recognised ways of disposing of that type of waste, but I do think FireAngel should take greater responsibility for this. Presumably to avoid tampering the units are sealed, but that means that you either have to try to 'break into it' before disposing of it, or when you are disposing of the device, you have to leave the battery in. I believe that FireAngel do produce equivalent models with replaceable batteries and I suspect that I will go for that option next time.
