How to measure a garden

  • In order to measure a square/rectangular area, you will need to measure the width and the length. You should then have two numbers.
  • Next, to calculate the area of you rarea, multiply the two numbers together.
  • If you have an irregular shaped area, it may be difficult to know where to begin.
  • We would suggest splitting the area into smaller squares.
  • Prepare the soil first – so that you can be sure of your measurements
  • Use a long tape measure – preferably one that reaches the whole length of the site
  • Measure in metres and centimetres
  • Measure each side twice
  • Write measurements down as you take them
  • Use a calculator and always double-check your maths
  • Add a little extra to allow for wastage

Tools Required

  • Gardening gloves
  • Sturdy boots
  • Sharp spade
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Landscaping rake
  • Knife or edge-trimmer
  • Hosepipe
  • Broom

Preparation

Dig deep

  • For healthy Sedum, the plants need to get their roots into the soil.
  • It needs to be able to draw water and nutrients throughout its whole life. Which hopefully will be a long time.

The soil

  • Remove all debris and big stones , compact the surface so that it’s nice and firm and ensure that the levels are even and the area is well-drained. If some areas are prone to “puddling”, apply a layer of sand then level and compact it. Sedum plants will not survive in waterlogged areas.
  • Lay the included weed control fabric on top of the soil; this will stop perennial weeds pushing up from the soil below.

Planning

  • Don’t order your Sedum Ground Mats until you’re ready to lay them
  • The biggest threat to the quality of your Sedum is time:
  • Lay your Enviromat Sedum Ground Mat on the day it arrives.
  • Prepare the ground before ordering.
  • Only order as much as you can lay in a day.

How to Lay

  • Simply unroll then lay onto the prepared ground.
  • Start from an outside edge – and lay the first strip widthways.
  • Press carefully to make good soil contact but without squashing the plants.
  • Continue lying adjacent pieces until you have completed the first row along an entire edge.
  • Start the next row.
  • Stagger successive rows so that the short edges do not line up (they should look like the vertical joints in brickwork).
  • Continue like this, butting and pushing the edges for a tight join but being careful not to stretch the rolls.
  • Finally, trim any untidy edges with an old wood saw or sharp serrated knife.
  • Water well to aid establishment. Remember Sedum plants require little water. Only water during dry spells and on installation.

Returns policy

Unwanted - Due to the live nature of this product orders cannot be cancelled once dispatched.

Faulty/Damaged - Customers have a right to a full refund or replacement within 24 hours following receipt of the goods if the product is faulty or damaged. All Turf should be laid within 24 hours of receipt. In all circumstances, the Supplier must be notified of a faulty or damaged claim within 24 hours of delivery to enable timely inspection by the supplier. Photographic evidence will be required.

Delivery Information

You should arrange for your Sedum to be delivered on the day you will lay it. Reducing the amount of time it is stored significantly reduces any potential problems that may arise. Enviromat is delivered direct to your home by a pallet courier that primarily uses 18-tonne rigid trucks that are built for reaching the majority of UK addresses. However, it is possible that your delivery could be made on a larger vehicle. If you think this may be an issue, or you have any delivery restrictions which could affect the delivery, please get in touch before placing your order.

Your order will be unloaded using a manual pallet trolley which requires a flat, smooth, level surface. All deliveries are made kerbside however, we will do our best to place your delivery where you wish, such as on your driveway.

We aim to make your delivery between 8am and 2pm Tuesday to Friday. You will be able to select your preferred delivery date at the time of order.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Sedum Available All Year Round?

Sedum is available to purchase all year round. Sedum can be installed at any time of the year but it is best to avoid laying Sedum on frozen ground. Never install sedum on waterlogged ground.

  • How Often Should You Water Your New Sedum?

Sedum plants are incredibly drought tolerant. They are not, however, drought-proof. After installation ensure the substrate remains damp to the touch by watering regularly. Once established Sedum plants require very little water. Only water during prolonged hot, dry weather. Sedum plants turn red when stressed through lack of water.

  • When Will My Order Arrive?

We will aim to deliver your order on your chosen day by 2pm.

  • Do I Need To Be At Home To Accept My Delivery?

It is recommended that someone is home to accept the delivery, however, we are able to leave your delivery without a signature as long as there is somewhere safe to do so such as a flat, smooth, level private driveway. Please note we are unable to leave your delivery kerbside without a signature.

  • What Is Kerbside Delivery?

Kerbside delivery means that items will be delivered to the nearest kerbside, as close as possible to the delivery address you provide. Our drivers will do their best to place your turf delivery where you wish, such as a driveway, but this is at their discretion after completing a risk assessment.
