Things to consider when purchasing a TV stand

Style

The right TV stand can really bring a room together, providing a stylish focal point to highlight the best features of your TV whilst also complementing your existing aesthetic. If your decor is fresh and bright, consider choosing a TV unit with a metallic or light oak finish, or go for a white TV stand to keep the room feeling light and airy. If your room plays with darker colours, then a rustic wood finish is likely to be a better fit, such as dark walnut or acorn.

Size

The size and shape of your preferred TV unit will depend on a few factors. Firstly, whether you’re after a modern, sleek look or a more traditional, wood finish, your TV stand should be appropriately sized in comparison to the rest of your room, and in relation to your TV screen size. Smaller tables are usually best positioned near or tucked into the corner of a room, whilst longer tables look smart pushed up against a flat wall.

Storage

For the unit itself, consider how much storage space you’d like from your TV stand. Do you want to proudly display your DVD collection and ornaments, or would you rather any clutter be kept behind closed doors? The latter can be helpful for keeping a clear headspace and making it easier to keep your living room tidy and guest-ready. Our TV stands come with concealed cable management systems, so no need to worry about trailing wires as an eyesore or trip hazard.

Space

Don’t push for a larger table if it doesn’t fit naturally into the space you have available. If you are limited on space, corner TV stands can be a great solution - tucking away neatly into the corner of your room for easy viewing. Something else to consider is how to position your TV stand within your room to avoid screen glare from any windows whilst still offering a comfortable viewing position from all your seating.

Particularly consider how far away you want your TV to be from where you sit. As a general rule, it’s recommended to multiply the size of your TV screen (in inches) by 1.6 to get the ideal distance between your seat and your TV screen. Try to make sure the screen is aligned with your eyes when you are sitting down, as this will help to avoid neck strain over time.
