Overview
The HYSC210 is a low maintenance petrol powered scarifier from Hyundai. Ideally suited for small to medium sized lawns up to approx. 20m x 20m, the HYSC210 features a cutting width of 400mm perfect for revitalising and reviving the most tired and spongiest of lawns.
Powered by a 210cc 4-stroke OHV petrol engine, the HYSC210 delivers impressive aerating performance for achieving the perfect lawn. For best results, your lawn should be scarified every 4-6 weeks.
The large sized wheels make manoeuvrability particularly easy and the specially designed wide tread helps protect your lawn when in use. The HYSC210 features a robust high-quality steel deck.
With 5 cutting depths controlled from one adjustment dial, the working depths range from +15mm to -15mm putting you in control over the finish of your lawn. There is also a transport position allowing movement over the lawn and paving without damaging the turf or blades.
Fitted with a spacious quick release 45L polyester grass catcher bag, you will spend less time emptying the cuttings and more time scarifying. Attaching and removing the collection bag couldn’t be simpler, and this allows you to dispose of the cuttings quickly and conveniently.
For increased comfort, this petrol aerator features a soft grip handle, which reduces fatigue when used for long periods. The OPC (Operator Presence Control) lever ensures that the engine will not run if you let go of the handle. The handles also fold down over the main power unit, which makes this compact lawn mower easy to store in a garden shed, garage or even a vehicle.

Great machine but……
Great product at a great price, delivered very quickly so no complaints there. However after about 5 uses the blades stopped spinning and upon investigation it seemed the drive belt was slipping. Tried to tension it but tensioner was at max. Spoke to service & they agreed that the tension was probably set wrong at the factory & slipping belt had caused it to wear/stretch (?). New belt was sent as a replacement as it’s only a one bolt loosed repair. Probably worth checking the tension before using fir first time.

On unwrapping one of the wheels had been bent in, managed to straighten without too much difficulty. The quick start guide is for lawnmowers, as the engine in a scarifier is in a different orientation the pictures didn't line up for filling the oil - why is there two oil filling points? Use the one on the front - much easier. Once going I didn't bother with the collector as it would have been full within about two feet. It is a very effective scarifier, the amount of moss/thatch it pulls up is quite scary. It came with a seperate rake roller with spring tines which I haven't ysed yet.

The machine is very heavy which isn't apparent in use but is if you want to lift up onto a bench to change blades which if you follow the instructions given on the hyundai youtube page you need to empty the oil and petrol before turning on its side. In reality it's a lot easier not to empty machine and just tilt up resting on something like a tool box or can of paint. A bit more more fiddly but easier than draining fluids.
It states 5 cutting depths, I don't know where they get this from as there's no indicator of how deep It's cutting, the dial is notch and number free just a crude bolt that pushes on a plate to lower or raise so you can't tell exactly what depth you are without trying on your lawn.
It does a really good job of removing moss and thatch using the attached blades, no idea if I should be using the steel blades or other supplied attachment as the instructions don't tell you what either are for. Are they both for scarifying and aerating at the same time or is one for aerating and the other for scarifying? The instruction manual is poor.
It says for small to medium gardens upto 20m x 20m, who knows where they dragged those numbers from mine is about 40m x 80m and it does a great job, I must have guessed right when setting it up. The 45l collection box is useless as with other makes as you collect that amount in seconds so don't even bother with it as you'll need to rake up afterwards.
The machine works very well but the hyundai is as much as £200 more expensive than the sherpa and the only difference is the colour and a 3 year warranty, they are generic Chinese machines with several different makers labels put on. If you want the extra warranty, blue paint and to pay a lot more this is the one to go for, if you want the identical machine for a lot less buy one of of the other brands. They all do the same good job.
