Air Fryers FAQs

Why buy a fryer?

Packed full of functionality, many fryers do more than just frying – and with an adjustable temperature dial, timer, and handy pre–programmed settings, you can roast, fry, bake, stir fry, grill, BBQ, and more, all in one compact and stylish unit.

Which is the right fryer for me?

Fryers come in two main categories: Air fryers (also known as health fryers) and deep fat fryers (also known as traditional fryers.

If you’re looking for healthier results and a fryer for daily use, an air fryer may be the right appliance for you. Providing a healthy way to enjoy your favourite foods quickly, air fryers often offer short cooking times and require little to no oil – instead circulating hot air, for even heat distribution and perfect results every time. What’s more, some air fryers even have rotisserie functions which allow you to spit roast whole chickens – locking in the flavour and moisture, whilst crisping the skin effortlessly.

On the other hand, deep fat fryers are perfect for making gastropub-style chips from the comfort of your own kitchen, and is the cooking method of choice for an indulgent Friday night treat. So if you’re looking for crunchy outsides and fluffy insides, this is the perfect fryer for you! It also comes in handy when making a range of other treats, including churros, tempura veg, fried chicken, doughnuts, and onion rings!

What can you cook in an air fryer?

Air fryers are incredibly versatile and you can cook a huge range of meals in them. Popular choices include chicken (or really any kind of meat), salmon, potatoes, fries, and any vegetables you’d traditionally grill or roast. Experiment with your usual dishes to see how your air fryer can make your favourite meals healthier and tastier.

How do air fryers work?

Air fryers cook food by blasting hot air onto the food, circulating around the inside of the fryer for equal heat distribution. This allows them to bake the food evenly, making your food tender and juicy on the inside but keeping it crispy on the outside. This even distribution of heat is a benefit over traditional ovens where heat rises to the top, which can often lead to unevenly cooked food. Air fryers function most similarly to a convection oven whilst delivering the results of a deep-fat fryer, but without the oil!
