Looks great but definitely style over substance!
Given current restrictions, we were looking to invest in a good quality heater to allow us to be outdoors in the colder months. The Aruba Heater looked like a great option given the multiple positions and Robert Dyas offered the best price online but in hindsight, I should have taken note of the lack of reviews. The heater arrived quickly, is well constructed and easy to assemble but we found that we had a faulty remote and there are no controls on the main unit itself. After some improvisation we managed to get the heater on but found the distribution of heat poor in both positions, only able to feel it when directly in front or underneath it and on the highest setting. Given the substantial price tag, we have returned it for a refund as there are much cheaper options available for that level of performance.

Not a happy experience
The Dyas online ad did not mention that the La Hacienda Aruba patio heater is delivered as a flat-pack that needs to be assembled. But being retired, under coronavirus lockdown and fairly competent I was happy to put it together myself. When I opened the pack I found concrete dust and shattered polystyrene packing. Some of the parts were bent, but I still reckoned I could overcome this.
In the hours that followed other faults came to light. One of the factory-assembled components was not properly built - it was misaligned, had split the retaining lip and prevented me from sliding a close-fitting part over it as per the instructions. I also noticed a flaw in the glass tube round which the heating element was pre-wound. The quality did not come up to usual expectation for Robert Dyas goods and I returned it for a full refund.
