Overview

This Mercia 6 x 3ft Wooden Victorian Growhouse is the perfect addition to the back yard of an avid gardening enthusiast who doesn’t have much space to spare.

Styrene glazed windows are fitted to allow natural light into the building, encouraging the growth of plants and vegetables. The panels used in this wooden greenhouse are made using 12mm shiplap cladding, the interlocking nature of this construction creates a solid panel that prevents weather getting in and damaging plants and tools. Because the styrene glazed windows are UV treated, there is no need to worry about the panels cracking or discolouring over time; the UV treatment also helps to protect plants inside from harmful rays.

Opening windows feature on top of this growhouse so that gardeners can regulate the temperature inside to suit the produce they are growing.

A classic pent roofline helps with water drainage, an essential feature that prolongs the life of the timber. A savvy gardener can also use this roofline to harvest the rainwater for use on their produce.

Although a coat of treatment is applied in the factory, it is recommended that a second coat is applied upon delivery. A 10-year anti rot guarantee is supplied as standard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Service, I would recommend Fantastic products, I'd not heard of Robert Dyas before I bought my shed. Hopefully they expand to the north of England in the future

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little greenhouse I wanted a small greenhouse with a solid back and this is just the job. Assembly was easy and fairly logical, the bag of screws supplied seemed too big for the job but better that than not having enough! Managed to get 2 coats of paint on it and all that is left to do it peel off the window protection. Also worth noting that the logistics company who managed the delivery were really good, a great example of oversized home delivery. My Dad has seen photos and now wants one which I take as positive too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job nicely I bought this item mid-November. We've had bad weather and it still standing and it hasn't suffered any damage. The communication was good and the delivery was fast. I was slightly concerned because we live in a close but the driver was very helpful. The greenhouse looks nice and sturdy enough for what I need. Putting it up together was a bit tricky at times and we used longer screws for some parts, mainly for the base. Pre-drilled or marked holes may have made it easier to assemble. Overall, a good-looking greenhouse that does the job. I am very happy with it :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tall greenhouse Needed 2 people to put up over a few hours. Doors then didnt quite join properly so rather than taking it all to bits again we used a plane!! Plenty of screws in case of loss Painting before hand was easier than constructing first. Blocks for venting not very clear Actually could have done with 2 more side shelves for our use

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tall Wall Greenhouse Was disappointed at first. The back panel is strong and well made, The doors are put together well. The sides and roof were the problem. The sides are just nailed together which gets pulled about during transit. One side the perspex panel was pushed out of the grooves and needed coaxing back into place. The wind blew one side onto the other before fitting which snapped the 2 perspex panels at the edge. NOT VIRTUALLY INDESTRUCTIBLE. The roof panels fit face side up and look wrong. Fitting it together would have been easier had the sides fitted to the back better. Once assembled i liked it and now pleased it does it's job. Mine is put against a wall so the guarantee is null and avoid because of this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Value for money, need good DIY skills Arrived flat packed and driver advised to paint pieces and assemble before removing the plastic film from both sides of glazing (good tip). We painted all the individual pieces, and my partner assembled it. It took him the best part of a day to out it together, and he’s a very skilled DIYer with all the right tools. Once assembled it looks good, and it’s stayed up over the last weekend with storm Eunice! The doors stick a bit, so must have swelled, and it needs an external door handle adding. Overall it’s OK for the money, as long as you have the skills to assemble it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice product, impossible warranty Product good quality but anti rot warranty says it will be invalidated if built within 60cm of a wall. Surely that is the point of a lean to greenhouse and what is shown in the merchandising pictures. If you use it as intended the warranty is useless.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's up He greenhouse is just what I wanted. The idea of leaving the cover on the windows made painting around the windows really easy. The only downside is that unfortunately as we were putting it together two of the planks were rather warped. One was put in place with a longer screw but the other too badly bowed. It still does it's job well. I like that the back shelf can be dropped. I have only made one side shelf permanent, the other sits very well on the fixtures. Not the easiest to put together it took my 2 sons a whole morning!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great small greenhouse Arrived in two deliveries, one week apart, have us time to read the instructions carefully and sort out screws etc. Took us two days to put together ( two older adults) and very ply with the end result, it's big enough for my vegetables and some annuals to grow on. My only concern is the roof, I would have liked there to be an overhang as the rain runs down the front of the greenhouse, I have ended up buying two plastic panels to extend the roof.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Generally happy overall Does the job but could do with more shelving. One or two panels could have had a bit more care taken during production. Communication from delivery company excellent. Overall we’re happy. Does it’s job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from compact Overall good just one problem ,condensation inside is running with it ,to cold to leave door open.will have to fit some sort of air vents

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Value for money Purchased as a gift, and is of good quality. Had to cut down a couple of bits that were ¼-½ inch wider at one end to the other, but as I had a table saw wasn’t a big deal. If I didn’t would have had to return the doors and have correct sized ones sent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mixed thoughts Very impressed with the web site and delivery arrangements. The greenhouse itself needed quite a bit of knocking about with a mallet to get it together, but it looks fine now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for money Greenhouse went together easy, had to buy lock for the doors, instructions easy to follow. Pleased with the outcome. Good size for a small/med garden or the new gardener

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent. Only small grips. Good, sturdy, easy to build. Needs some 75mm screws. Maximum size which comes is 60mm. Saying they give you enough other sizes in the bag to start a hardware store after building it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Lockdown Greenhouse Bought - assembled - painted - my lockdown greenhouse!
Date published: 2020-06-17
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value wooden greenhouse The greenhouse seems to be good quality for the price, it was delivered quickly and although one part was damaged, this was quickly resolved with a replacement part being couriered out on Easter Monday! The only complaint I have is that the screw pack with the product didn't seem to bear any relation to the instructions, with even then longest screws not being suitable to construct the greenhouse. We ended up buying a large pack of long 70mm decking screws, which was used for majority of the build. Pre-drilling the holes at the factory would be useful, especially on aspects such as the doors, which are particularly tricky to line up correctly. It is spacious and quite sturdy, and will hopefully help me to grow lots of tomatoes over the coming years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Tall Wall Tale I thought that the Tall Wall Greenhouse was somewhat overpriced. I had to make several amendments to it to make sure it lined up properly. Having said that, my wife thinks that it is wonderful and has stocked it full with her plants for winter.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not worth the money & not even 3' deep I bought this a couple of weeks ago. Really wanted a upvc one but was too expensive so this had to do. The building wasn't even 3' deep, involved a lot of work as the slabs they were going on this should have been a perfect fit. Leaflet of instructions was useless, cobbled together by a child on work experience, not easy to follow at all and my builder does builds all the time. Half stained half not. Very shoddy mass produced cheap wood.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lovely greenhouse but a nightmare to erect Overall, I love my greenhouse and we decided to buy in spite of some poor reviews. However, I should make the following points: 1. There was no clear instruction on how to marry up the sides to the back and we therefore had to guess. 2. Edges of the majority of the pieces were rough; there was no consistency in the wood used as some pieces seemed to be tongue and groove with no explanation. 3. Pre-assembled components were shoddily put together with a nail gun and the doors had to be planed and sanded in order to close. 4. The roof trims were all around 20 cm too long and had to be sawn to the correct length. 5. The treatment of the wood was inconsistent and hadn’t even touched the wood on the bottom part of one of the doors: consequently, when it rained before we had finished, wood swelled and made ill-fitting parts fit even worse. We worked really hard to get this done to a good standard, which we needn’t have done had parts been more professionally and accurately produced. This isn’t a cheap greenhouse and I absolutely love it, but I would expect more professionalism for the money. One plus is that people who comment about the wrong-length screws are not correct. Despite my having bought some 70mm screws, they were not needed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mercia Traditional Tall Wall Greenhouse A little disappointed with the finished quality and the delivery gent was very helpful however, where he placed them (and before I could move them), the window caught the panels and one of my acrylic windows on the front is already broken and there appears no easy way of replacing this. One of the timbers for the doors was badly bowed and the shelving did not fit as the runners were overlong and had to be trimmed and slightly adapted. Overall, not too bad a product and will do the job it is intended for. Sorry as I am not trying to be too negative but relaying the facts.
Date published: 2021-05-10
Rated 3 out of 5 by from poor quality Purchased this a couple of weeks ago. The build quality is poor the side window rattle out of the frame, one of the cross bars on the side panel window support is 4 mm short and the screw thread is visable
Date published: 2021-02-15
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Instructions need reviewing by the manufacturer The instructions are not clear, especially when positioning the doors- the order is incorrect. The screws you are instructed to use are often too short so are not long enough to go through to make the join, even with a huge countersink. We used larger sizes.
Date published: 2020-11-22
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good size I bought this a couple of weeks ago and had a friend assemble it. Most of it went together ok but the doors don’t fit and he had to plane some off the side of one. I was unable to seal the wood and now it has swelled and neither doors close properly. I will need to seal the wood as soon as it has dried out and then take the doors off to seal them and plane some wood of both of them before re-assembling them. Considering the cost of the greenhouse I don’t think I would recommend this product but invest in a more sturdy one.
Date published: 2021-05-10
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Design does not seem to allow for rain Design does not seem for rain running down the roof into the front timber
Date published: 2021-01-20
Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK, but maybe not the best value for money. The greenhouse is not bad it self but maybe rather overpriced for what it is. The wood is fairly rough, there are no pilot holes drilled so you better be fairly confident that you are assembling it correctly. A small thing but the 170 screws you get to build it with are thrown together in one bag, so your first job is to spend 30 minutes separating them out. Anyway, I'm sure once spring comes we will love it.
