Great well made binI searched high and low for a bin that was tall rather than wide and even though it was very expensive I decided to go with this one. The bin is great, a lovely colour and very sturdy. The only problem is I cannot find big bags to fit it! Have made do with white bin bags and have cut a split into them in order to fit the top compartment.

Overall - very good product design and lookWas a little unsure about having a battery operated lid but is very handy, and the sensor seems a little hit/miss (maybe I've not got the knack yet!), but you can just open/close manually, so will see how quickly it eats up the (SIX!) AA batteries. Anyway, MR offer a 5 year warranty which gives a level of comfort. Great overall design - especially the integrated/hidden food bin - just a shame it is not a little bigger, as there is space. Also a shame the compartment below it does not have a tray/box liner (like lower compartment) - rather than having to line it with a bag. I improvised a box from our old recycling unit, and we only use that compartment for paper/card anyway.
So, but for a few design tweaks, would have given it 5 stars. Hope I don't need to exercise the Warranty!

Nice bin, no bags fit it though!Looks good, and does help with the recycling but impossible to find bags that fit it. Even the Morphy Richards website don't seem to stock the right size. The ones I bought that were recommended are very long but very narrow and don't cover the opening which means the bin gets messy easily and requires cleaning often. For the price they really should have thought about manufacturing a bag for it.

Beware battery life and flimsy gearsA great idea on paper but unfortunately the motor and gearing just aren't up to the job. You'll find the lid will open great for a while then, even with new batteries the opening will get narrower and narrower until eventually you're reduced to using your hand to force the lid open, damaging the gear/motor even further (and if you look at the warranty those bits aren't covered!). You'll also replace batteries all the time, and as it takes 6 x AA it's not cheap to run. If they'd update this model with better gearing and a mains adapter it would be a good buy. As it is, it's a goodbye.
