Works perfectly.
Fortunately I'm only having to use mine for mice rather than rats, but it works perfectly. The little flashing light on top tells you when you've got a surprise in the morning, so you can just empty it into the bin. It even somehow (I have no clue how!) managed to kill two mice the other day, with one being outside the trap in the morning???
Reading the other review, I do wonder whether the reviewer may have tried the wrong size of battery, as I find absolutely no problems. Easy to remove the cover, and replacement batteries fit in easily, without being either loose or too tight.
Overall, far far better than any other way of disposing of mice that I've ever tried.

Batteries (very) hard to fit.
I struggled a long time to fit the batteries. Very tight fit. I managed it in the end. It's as if the original design was fine, but maybe a new supplier of the springs that push the batteries together supplied springs that were just that little bit bigger than the originals, and no-one at the factory has bothered to check the compatibility of the new part. Once primed, it worked well. I thought I could use it outside in reliably dry weather with no dew in the morning. I didn't catch a rat, but I caught a wood mouse (feel guilty about that) and then a slug! Then the weather closed in, so that was that. However, it will do for when mice next decide to overwinter in the garage, or get into the loft up my neighbour's ivy (the lady of the house thinks it looks pretty and it will reach the roof next year).

Batteries very difficult to install.
Not certain if I just had a poorly made one but the batteries were so tight they had to be levered in. As it was for the use of a lightly built elderly person it was not appropriate. Could not fault Robert Dyas excellent service, staff helpful, immediate full refund, no hassles. Thank you.
