Works! Wear gloves, though, and paint on then stipple. Wait as long as it says on the can.

Polycell paint stripper
It’s adequate but I used it on varnish and it was hard work, perhaps this type of product is not permitted to contain the necessary chemicals for effective stripping? and it’s relatively expensive
