Accurate but poor battery life!Like all the other reviews the battery life sucks! I’ve had the scales since beginning of February as we moved house and lost my old scales which are the old fashion weights! So I thought I would treat myself to a new set, only I have had the scales two and a bit months and already have changed the battery three times! Why can’t I turn the scales off?
The only way I assume is by taking the battery out and who has time for that every time they want to weigh something! Would not recommend at all....who needs a clock on their scale anyway?no one will see it when they are in a cupboard!

Good accurate scales BUT....I like these scales BUT the fact that you can't turn off the clock etc (permanently on) means the batteries run out ridiculously quickly - BIG design fault. Who on earth wants to have a clock on scales?!!

Battery life is a joke (but scales themselves ok)Can't turn it off, so the battery runs out every few weeks or so. So, even though the scales themselves are fine, they'll double their cost in about a year with all the replacement batteries you have to buy. Would recommend that you buy a digital scale with an actual off switch instead.

Can't turn it off. Ruins an otherwise good productI arrived here whilst looking for an answer how to turn it off after resorting to taking the battery out after I've used it the last few months after the first battery ran out within a couple of weeks. Turns out it can't be turned off, what a silly design for something that in most kitchens will only receive occasional rather daily use. Were the designers thinking people would also use it as their kitchen clock or something?
It's otherwise a nice digital scale. What a shame!

Won’t turn offI bought these about six weeks ago and have already used two batteries- absolutely ridiculous. The leaflet says they turn off but they don’t, the clock is on constantly. Personally I don’t need a clock on my kitchen scales. What a waste of money, plus I’m going to have to buy a new, different model as I’m not going to continue buying batteries every month.

Does not turn offI was bought this for Christmas first impression were great but then I could not get the scale to turn off even following the instruction book, so i thought it must go onto sleep mode when not in use, wrong. So after only having the scales a month and using three times the battery is dead! And as it's not your general A AAA battery that you usually have lying about I was unable to use it. Not happy

I didn't want a clock, I wanted scalesI bought these a couple of months ago and am just about to change the battery for the third time because they are constantly on. The previous scales only came to life when you used them but these are constantly on as they have an unwanted clock function which appears to drain the battery. Very annoying that the clock continues but they wont function as scales when you go to use them!

Cannot turn off!Bought these scales but then realised they cannot be turned off! The clock stays permanently on which seems a pointless feature for a set of scales. Constant drain on battery. Poor design in this regard so I would not recommend.

Change battery every weekI have had this for some time and could not return it because I did not realise the problem until I started using it. The clock cannot be turned off so the battery runs out every week. I now take it out after using it and then put it back when I want to use it again. What a nuisance.

Battery life is rubbishThere is no on-off button and batteries last no time at all. It will be cheaper to junk the scales and buy some with an on-off. Googled Salter on how to turn off - says to hold the on-off/ zero button for two seconds. Doesn't work

Battery runs down very quicklyPurchased scales which looked very modern but have not worked out how to switch them off. The battery has already been replaced twice in less than 6 months. Not sure why I need a clock function on set of scales which seem to be shortening battery life.

Cannot be turned offI bought these just under three weeks ago and the battery has already gone because you cannot turn the scales off because of the clock feature. I do not want to have to keep removing then replacing the battery so will be returning these.

Battery!!!Similar to other negative reviews that I've unfortunately only just seen. The battery is next to useless, has given up the ghost after only around 2 weeks of usage. I wanted digital scales for better accuracy and I've had similar ones before but never with a battery this poor.

Terrible battery life! Dead in a matter of weeks!Wish I'd read the reviews on here! The battery goes flat after about 2 to 3 weeks. You can't turn it off and unlike any other clock timer, it burns through the battery. Nice kitchen scale but useless if the screen is blank when I want to weigh something.

Battery gobblerAppalling, 3 batteries in as many months! ( not cheapies but Duracell) The functions and design are good but the the product is let down by the button cell trend. Get back to basics and proper batteries.

Terrible battery life. Effectively useless!I bought this device 6 weeks ago, since when it has completely drained two batteries. My previous salter machine lasted over a year without a charge. This design is clearly faulty and replacing it will be cheaper than fuelling it. Don't buy.

Terrible battery lifeLike other reviewers I have a big problem with battery life. I am on my third battery in only a few months and I only use the scales occasionally. Most of the time the scales are in a drawer but you cannot turn off the clock and the battery just runs down. Batteries are expensive button type batteries too. I would avoid buying these scales unless you have shares in Duracell.

Kitchen clockI bought this product some time ago and was surprised, then increasingly frustrated, to find that its digital clock can't be turned off. The clock is a pointless feature anyway and just serves to run down the battery. You can either disconnect battery or replace it each time scales used. Thinking behind this baffling.
