Crocosmia 'Spitfire' is a compact, dwarf variety that’s easy to grow and reliable, with orange blooms in late summer. Slender stems rise above the foliage, tipped with sprays of fiery orange blooms that are flushed with gold. The narrow, sword-shaped foliage forms an arching clump of leaves, which will gradually spread to form a slowly wandering drift of colour. Crocosmia ‘Spitfire’ is somewhat better behaved than other varieties, with a compact, dwarf habit. This is a fabulous choice for exotic borders or adding to a hot colour-themed herbaceous border. Grow Crocosmia in rich fertile, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Height: 75cm (29in). Spread: 1cm (14in).
