This portable radio from Panasonic is a classic design which features a traditional feel tuner and retro look. A big dial makes finding the perfect station as easy as pie, allowing you to scan the radio waves for all your favourite stations and songs.

Finding a battery radio which didn’t drain away its power on digital bells and whistles you’d seldom use, wasn’t as easy as I imagined. After plenty of research it came down to two or three models and this was by far the most affordable and the most effective. It focusses on getting decent radio signals whilst being attractively light and portable. It won’t be a top range hi-fi experience - easily add £100 and more for that - but it gives me Radio 3 with a nice clear very listenable sound. Job done!

Just a good FM radio.
If you're after a simple FM radio with decent sound and a tuner that doesn't wander off-station, I highly recommend this. I considered the Sony equivalent which looks prettier, but seems to be slightly poorly constructed. The Panasonic is solid and works well. Also, buying from Robert Dyas you get the digital tuner version as opposed to the analogue tuner version, but for the same price.

Searched for ages to find a replacement radio for the one we have had forever….

This was a gift for my elderly dad, who has vision and hearing problems. It said it had extra loud volume control and bigger writing, making it easier to pick the stations, especially a specific AM one, which is why we brought it. Good quality too.

Well designed, nice to use.
I like this radio, it sounds really nice because it has a 4" speaker, but it is still what I would call compact. I have a small radio with a 2" inch speaker that sounds really weak in comparison. It is plenty loud enough for me, i only use in my flat, and because I run it on batteries I can carry it from room to room by it's handle! I briefly thought about buying an upgraded speaker and fitting it to the radio (I like tinkering with electrical stuff), but decided against it because it sounds good anyway, and it wasn't expensive to buy. The only thing I could think of to do to improve it was to put self adhesive rubber feet on the bottom of it so it can't slip around on any surface I put it on, apart from that I think it is perfect.

Good quality radio
I was looking for a replacement radio after my previous one had finally died. I have a good mobile but prefer to use a good old fashioned radio if I'm in the house or garden. The capability of socket or batteries is ideal for this portability and the batteries last a long time. So being fully portable and very neat in size it also travels with me on my jaunts away from home :). Sound quality is very good and no where need to use it at full volume. I can get loads of different channels so no problems there either. A very good radio which looks and feels good quality. Only dropped it a star as when the radio is turned off and it is connected by the socket the radio is not fully switched off and there is some electrical noise which I'd rather not have as it is on my bedside cabinet. This is mentioned in the blurb which is fair enough and I'm sure wouldn't bother most people. It didn't stop me from keeping it :)

Not as good as their previous efforts
I used to own a Panasonic RF-1105 portable 4 band radio in the late 70s The halcyon days of portable FM radio. It was fantastic I used to connect it to a reel to reel tape machine and make fantastic off-air recordings. Here we are nearly 50 yrs later with all the advances in technology at our disposal, and the best manufacturers can come with up with is this? There is an untapped market out there for a decent well made musically satisfying portable radio, but no one seems to make one.
