How to Store Garden Chairs
To ensure your garden chairs last for seasons to come, storing your garden chairs in a suitable shed or garage will prevent rust or structural damage. For smaller gardens or spaces without storage space, garden furniture covers will also protect the longevity of your garden chairs. Their water-resistant fabric will protect your garden chair from the rain, tree sap and bird droppings, making it summer-ready all year round.
How to Clean Garden Chairs
Before cleaning your garden furniture, it’s important to consider the material of your garden chair, as some materials such as wood, may require specialised cleaners to avoid damage.
To clean garden chairs and restore them, we recommend mixing a mild, non-detergent soap in a bowl of water with a cloth or sponge. Simply, wipe down the garden chair with the solution, ensure to clean underneath the seat and rinse down with water to remove any surface dirt and soap suds. Can You Paint Plastic Garden Chairs?
Painting plastic garden chairs is a great way to give them a new lease of life. Using specialist paint will allow you to safely and easily paint your garden chairs and other plastic furniture such as children’s play toys.
Simply clean your plastic garden chair, ensure it’s dry and use a primer to prep the surface. This allows the paint to correctly adhere to the plastic surface. Once the primer is dry, apply your chosen colour and once dried, you’re plastic garden chair will appear as good as new!
How to Remove Rust From Garden Chairs
Garden furniture can rust due to the material it’s made from and the elements they are exposed to. There are a few methods to remove rust from your outdoor furniture.
Option 1: Baking Soda & Water Mixture
Creating a thick paste of baking soda and water is an effective and non-toxic way to remove the rust. Apply the paste to the affected areas using a cloth, allow it to sit for 15-20 mins and scrub the rust with an abrasive sponge - repeat the process if required.
Option 2: Aluminium Foil
Aluminium foil isn’t just great for wrapping food, it’s also an effective way to remove rust from your garden chairs. Make a ball of aluminium foil and a mixture of water and salt. Dip the foil into the mixture and in a circular motion, scrub and clean the rust areas. Repeat this a few times to remove the rust and your garden chair will look brand new in no time!
Option 3: Salt & Lemon
To remove the rust from your garden chairs, mix lemon and salt in a bowl and directly apply it to the rusted surface. The acid in the lemon will help to loosen the rust, whilst the salt acts as an abrasive to remove the rust from your garden chair. Leave the mixture for 20 minutes, then scrub and clean the surface with an abrasive sponge.
