You should also consider roof type when selecting a garden shed:
Apex roofs come in the form of a triangle with two slopes that meet in the middle, directing rain down both sides. If you plan on packing away your larger garden furniture like your bistro sets, sun loungers and gazebos or you look to work inside your garden building with your larger tools, this type of roof is perfect as it provides you with additional space.
Pent roofs feature a single slope, with the highest point located on the wall where the door is situated. These pent-roof buildings offer an evenly distributed internal height as the roof does not lower on each side, making it great if you're looking for plenty of storage space when packing away your belongings like your awning or garden chair cushions.
Whether you're looking for 6'x8', 7'x5' or a variety of other sizes, we'll have something to make the most of your outdoor space.
Cladding is another thing to keep in mind when choosing your shed. Different styles offer varying levels of durability, strength and integrity. Find out the difference between shiplap, tongue and groove, and overlap in our Shed Buying Guide.
Insulating a shed allows you to open the doors to your new garden building, all year round. Not only does it make it energy-efficient, but it can also make it a comfortable garden abode, to use as a home office or relaxing room. If you’re searching for a new garden shed, our expert shed buying guide will ensure you find the ideal addition for your space.
Whether you’re a novice DIYer or will be trying to insulate your garden shed for the first time, our step-by-step instructions will make it a breeze. You’ll need the following tools:
1. Tape measure.
2. Utility knife or scissors.
3. Staple gun.
4. Insulation.
5. Sealant.
6. High-quality insulation.
7. Plasterboard or Plywood.
How to Insulate Your Garden Shed Walls:
1. Measure the space between each stud.
2. Install a damp-proof membrane between the studs to reduce potential moisture build-up.
3. Cut the insulation board to size.
4. Place the insulation boards between the studs. For a metal or plastic shed, we’d recommend first covering the walls with adhesive to allow the insulation to stick.
5. To give your shed a professional finish, we’d recommend covering the walls with plasterboard, allowing you to paint your shed in a colour of your choice.
