Replacing a kettle that failed within its warranty
It took quite a long time for dyas to replace the faulty kettle but I do recognise that some customers may try to “fiddle” a new kettle, so that in my case, it was an understandable in this case.

Excellent item
Really pleased. Lid opens and closes well, not too noisy when boiling, colours do what it says on the tin. So much better in many aspects than my previous kettle of a different make.

We needed a new kettle as our water is very hard and our old one furred up very quickly as it had been cleaned so many times. This is pretty much the same as our old one but with lights. Its quieter.

Bought only yesterday but so pleased with my purchase. Looks VERY smart and more expensive than it is. Good, wide opening lid. Base is a stylish metal colour and the jug is a stylish shape. Light up colours look nice and remind me to switch off at the plug socket. Not a fast boil like my previous kettle but has safely cut out in case of a boil dry. Time will tell as most kettles seem to fail within a year so am interested to see if the 3 year Salter guarantee and 1 year Robert Dyas guarantee will hold up!
In the meantime, the kids love it!!

Great product!
I wanted a kettle that hasn't got any plastic inside, as most times the water from plastic kettles tastes "plasticy". A glass kettle is perfect as I use filtered water so there is no plastic taste. Love the design, and the fact that the colour display goes from blue to red, which is different. It also makes me switch the appliance off at the wall between use, as I used to keep the wall socket switched on all the time. What a good design this kettle is, I wonder why I didn't think of using one before!

Feels strong, sturdy. Early days, but works as it should, no issues to date. Kids like the gimmicky function of the colour change when boiled/boiling. Would be very useful if you're deaf

Just purchased this and it looks good but not as colorful as the pictures show .Not the fastest to come to the boil when filled to max but seems good value overall so I am happy !

Annoying and disappointing
I bought one of these last week and somewhat annoyingly, the only way the blue light can be turned off is by turning it off at the wall or sitting the kettle away from the power base. Lid opening is also a little clunky.

okay but daft design fault
The irritating thing for me about this is that the blue light is constant so one has to turn the kettle off at the wall or it's like leaving the fridge door open with a silly light glowing all the time. Other than that it's a kettle as such it's okay and feels clean being glass. Had I known about the permanent light thing there's no way i would have bought it though. Some might like burning led's 24/7 but i think it's plain daft.

Third glass kettle bought in 20 months
This model is slightly different from the previous model, different lid, base shape and colour change, also quieter. Bits broke and other two. All have needed too frequent de scaling, don’t think I’ll buy another.

Glass appears flimsy & problems with condensation
I've had glass kettles before but the glass on this appears flimsy as it's not reinforced with a band or anything, so I'm already worried about chipping it on the tap, when filling it.
The top lid needs to be firmly clicked shut and is also quite stiff to click open. There seems to be a lot of condensation too inside the kettle after boiling. It looks good though.

Slow
Had this approx 6 weeks, takes over 6 minutes to boil a full kettle, even on the minimum amount it's 2 minutes plus, hate to think how much electricity it's using. Good point is that it has a wide top so you can get your hand in to clean it out easily. Bad point is that all the time the useless lights are on it's using power, after use I either switch off at the socket or leave it off the stand.

Stopped working within a year
I have had 2 of these kettles. The first one stopped working after around 9 months but I really liked the model so put it down to bad luck. The second one I bought didn’t last this long and plunged my house into darkness when it blew!

Appalling
Further to my review in Feb/Mar, just returned this kettle as the lid hinge has broken. I'm glad it did as I have replaced it with a Russell Hobbs 28080 Structure kettle that is so much better, it saves water & electricity, feel free to read my review on it.

Very disappointing
This kettle looks nice but is badly designed and not well made.
Within 5 days the Coloured LED on one side of the base had failed. We were pleased that this had happened because we could then return it for a refund ( excellent service from Robert Dyas with free collection and rapid refund)
The reason(s) we wanted to return it were
1) when it is boiling and you pour from it, hot steam e capes and burns your hand. This is frankly dangerous.
2) the lid is difficulty to open and so it is tedious to fill it up, and again, dangerous if you are filling it up when the water inside is hot as steam escapes.
3).if you take the kettle to pour hot water before it has boiled , then it continues to heat when you put it down. Ie there is no automatic power cut off when you lift the kettle.
Having had the excellent salter scales for years this is a big disappointment.

Poor Quality - does not last
I had got a replacement under warranty after 6months as it lit up but did not boil. Now second kettle 5months on same fault but lost receipt, no proof as this was a replacement. Not worth it. Luck of the draw. Looks nice though.
