Overview

These incredible duo fruit trees have been meticulously grafted by highly skilled nurserymen, to create 2 different trees growing on one rootstock. What's more, the rootstocks are dwarfing meaning that your trees will always remain compact.

You will get 2 different varieties of fruit from 1 tree so are perfect for anyone who loves the idea of picking their own home-grown fresh fruit but has limited space. Each of the varieties will produce bumper crops of delicious full-sized fruit. Because they are already trained into a V shape, they are perfect for growing up a wall.

Varieties

  • Plum 'Victoria' - Named in honour of the much-loved British queen, 'Victoria' Plum is the UK's favourite plum variety by a mile and deservedly so. The delicious fruits are ready to pick each July and taste simply mouth-watering when eaten straight from the tree. With the remaining fruit you can make jams and preserves, and, of course, eat them stewed with custard.
  • Plum 'Opal' – Yellow and red flushed fruits that look wonderful as they ripen on the tree in July and August each year, following its attractive and fragrant white blossom, providing a wonderful spectacle throughout spring and summer. These delicious plums have a sweet and fruity flavour, so they are perfect for cooking plum puddings or jam.

Both plum varieties on this duo tree are fully deserving of their coveted RHS Award of Garden Merit. You can therefore plant this in the garden with confidence, for stunning displays for many years to come.

Supplied as grower-quality bare-root duo fruit tree with two varieties grafted onto dwarfing rootstocks.

Top Tips

Add Rootgrow Mycorrhizal Fungi to give your plants a head start and establish faster.

Care Information

  • Apply a slow-release fertiliser such as blood fish and bone in early spring, and mulch to retain moisture.
  • Drape netting over cherry trees to protect the fruit from birds.
  • Water regularly, and don't let the soil dry out if planted in pots.
  • Stone fruit should not be pruned during winter, to minimise the risk of infection - early summer is the ideal time. Established trees don't require radical pruning, just take off any diseased, dying and damaged branches, (the three Ds). Look at the overall shape and aim for an open structure of branches and remove any that cross over so they don't damage each other.
  • Hang wasp traps in trees and harvest crops as soon as they ripen. Avoid leaving windfalls or overripe fruit on the ground.
  • Don't forget the tree guards as rabbits can strip the bark overnight.
