The Zipper BM870ECO petrol scythe mower is the ideal machine for mowing down rough terrain, and large areas with high grass. Also good for mowing sloped orchards and large pastures or for mowing on rough terrain, large areas with high grass pastures and couplings. The Zipper BM870ECO is made with a cutting bar with fixed and movable blade for, particularly good cutting quality. Not only does it have excellent power but the blades that this machine uses are specially hardened so they can tackle long grass and thick weeds while benefiting further from infinitely height-adjustable outsoles.
Made with Comfort in mind the Zipper BM870 mm is comfortable to operate allowing you to get the perfect working position for you whilst also being easy to transport and store.

Robust and easy to use
This is a good product. We have used it several times and it appears to be well built and should last well. It is not really big enough for our two acre paddock but we couldn't afford anything larger

Very good value
With many of us turning parts of the garden to meadow, or just back to nature, a scythe mower is a must. I tried without one last year and never again. I found most were stretching the budget, if even in stock. Then I saw this one on Robert Dyas - good price. Slightly shorter blade but not enough to worry about. Deal done. Order arrived fine; now to put it together. Instructions seemed okay until you started to do it. The text is woeful in content and the diagrams pretty useless. However, I service my own mowers so it could all be worked out. Once together it started first pull. Both clutches needed adjustment but that's all. Machine is a dream. Does the job fine. Seems very good quality and solid. The big test will be the autumn cut of the 1/2 acre meadow. Right now I think it will breeze through it. I am also glad to have a slightly smaller blade as even this one is a jiggle to get through the garden gates.

Good value budget scythe mower
Assembly was a bit fiddly and instructions really limited to some very basic images, but whether or not just by luck managed to get it all together. Engine fired up really well with hardly any effort and it runs really well. I have used a much more expensive one before (over three times the price) and so far there isn't much in it.
Time will tell as only used it for a few hours so far, but for non commercial use it gets through most things.

An excellent machine
It is well designed and robust. It appears to be well capable of doing what I bought it for ( managing 1 hectare of grass, scrub and woodland) . The instructions however are really not very good and would be a challenge to someone with no mechanical knowledge.

Good product - poor instructions
Assembly instructions very poor quality, both in terms of explanation and clarity of diagrams. I really struggled to initially find the spring locations and the fitting and adjusting of the control handles need more detail than just "as per diagram". I filled it with oil to what was instructed as top of filler neck, but 1.3 litres later still not quite there. Engine started first pull and cutters seemed to work ok, then got clouds of white smoke so assume too much oil. Decided to stop and research instruction booklet and internet as to cause and remedy.Was about to contact RD for some advice as don't want to invalidate any guarantee

Good machine for the price
For the price it’s a good machine, let down by small but important quality control and build checks. With poor assembly instructions and assembly errors I found this machine frustrating to get going, once working it does a pretty good job, I would suggest getting some locktite to stop nuts working loose!
Make sure to buy some engine oil, it comes without it😡
